Roadmaps for a smart energy city
The ‘first next steps’ towards a smart energy Bristol
Project duration: April 2015 ongoing
The Bristol Smart Energy City Collaboration is an interdisciplinary group of organisations working to realise the vision of a public interest smart energy Bristol by 2020. You can find out more about the Collaboration here.
At the end of 2015, the Bristol Smart Energy City Collaboration published a report, Towards a Smart Energy City: mapping a path for Bristol, detailing the findings of its exploration of the opportunities and challenges involved. One of its principal contributions is three roadmaps detailing the steps which need to be taken in the city over a five year period, including, vitally, ‘the first next steps’.
These roadmaps form the basis for the work of the Collaboration over the next few years. Their principle focus is on what needs to happen next in order to a) make the steps after that more feasible, b) develop understanding and interest and c) improve capacity in the city to take advantage of future opportunities and to react smartly to changes in policy, markets or public sentiment.
A separate road map was developed for each of the main smart energy city goals:
